To discover diversity in history
The museums of Merano and its surroundings invite you to journey through the history of the region. It is up to the visitor to discover the aspects he wishes to explore: One can visit the stone age in the Archeoparc of Val Senales, or the Napoleonic era in the Andreas Hofer Museum of Val Passiria. There is the history of tourism in the so called Touriseum, or the mountain worlds in the Mountain Museum of the famous alpinist Reinhold Messner. The choice of eras and topics that can be visited is broad and diverse.
There are also a number of smaller, specialised museums such as the Women's Museum in Merano. Other fun options include the Museum of Fruit Growing in Lana, the Farmers' Museum in Foiana (Völlan), the typewriter museum in Parcines (Partschins) and the sprawling Train World model railway in Rablà (Rabland).
The museumobil Card combines two offerings, the South Tyrol-wide travel card and admission to South Tyrol’s museums.
The Iceman on display at the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano is one of the world’s best-known and most important mummies.
